About Me

As a kid, I spent my days on a ranch on the prairie in the Red Deer River Valley of southeastern Alberta. The prairies are unique, far different from the mountains that I currently live near. The mountains rise up and history is literally in front of our eyes.  The prairies are subtle. It takes patience to get to know them. Their story is not written in exposed compressed layers or crumbled scree. It is written in the depth of the rocks of teepee rings, and in the centuries old wagon trails you can still see curving and clinging to the path of least resistance across the grasslands and coulees. Time is marked by the colour of lichen growing on stones and the height of the native grasses blowing in the hot prairie wind.

I consider myself to be the luckiest person in the world to have grown up this way. So much time alone in nature creates a unique bond and relationship, one that, I hope, comes through in my work.

I have studied business, the environment, photography and metaphysics – some in a post secondary setting, others at home and still others with strong, prolific and talented teachers from the Calgary area and beyond. In addition, I am a classically trained ballet dancer, who, as an adult, has come back to dance to teach and study even more. I am also a classical voice student and enjoy immensely the challenge of such a pursuit. Someday, I hope to return to University to study archaeology and anthropology.

My husband, three children and I live on a beautiful piece of land west of Cochrane, Alberta.  My kids have the privilege of endless exploring and imagining, and the opportunity to forge their own special relationship with nature.

I pursue this life and my art with reverence, gratitude, a sense of humour, and an open heart.  Welcome to this little corner of the Internet!  Please make yourself at home. 🙂
